Removal is the part sellers worry about most: whether the driver turns up, and whether a towing charge appears at the curb. Here is how a pickup goes with us, step by step.
Before the truck leaves
You get your offer on the phone or from the form, and you accept it. We schedule a time. Same-day pickup is often possible, and if it isn’t, we’ll say so and give you the next real window. Our trucks start from 11616 S Yale Ave in West Pullman, so most of the Far South Side is a short drive away.
When the driver arrives
The driver does four things:
- Checks the car against what you described: the year, make and model, and the damage you mentioned. That check is why we ask detailed questions on the call.
- Checks the papers, the title or the documents we agreed on, and confirms your ID matches.
- Loads the car. On a flatbed, the winch pulls it up the bed, so it doesn’t need to start, steer or roll well.
- Pays you in cash, Zelle or Cash App, whichever you picked.
The tow costs you nothing, and nothing is taken out of the offer to pay for it.
Where we can reach
Most pickups are at the curb or in a driveway. We also pull cars out of alleys behind two-flats, from detached garages, from apartment and condo lots with the manager’s OK, and from repair shops. If the car is boxed in, our guide to garage, alley and backyard pickups explains what helps and what to tell us.
Once the car is gone
Keep a record of the sale, such as a photo of the signed title or a signed bill of sale. Take the license plates off before the car goes, then check with the Illinois Secretary of State whether to move them to another vehicle or turn them in. Then cancel the insurance once the sale is done, and if you had an I-PASS transponder or a city sticker on the windshield, deal with those too. The pre-pickup checklist has every step.
